Power Over Parkinson's

Sign up for our free 4-week introduction to Parkinson's called "Power Over Parkinson's."
Learn about Parkinson's in a positive atmosphere. Topics will include

  • Traditional and alternative treatments for PD
  • How to research you treatment options how to find and communicate with physicians
  • How to find and work with holistic practitioners
Power Over Parkinson's is held for four consecutive weeks, one day per week, from 10:30 am until noon in the APDA conference room at 2033 E. Speedway Blvd. in Tucson.
  •   The class is free but pre-registration is required  Class is limited to 12  people.
  •   People with Parkinson's and their family members and friends are encouraged to attend.

Classes are scheduled for August 5, 12, 19, 26; and October 7, 14, 21, 28, 2008 in the APDA conference room; 

Future classes will be scheduled at times/ places convenient to participants. Get your own group of ten or more together and call the instructor to arrange a class. The instructor is Cynthia Holmes, PhD, a health psychologist with over twelve years experience as a Parkinson's educator. The purpose of Power Over Parkinson'sTM is to facilitate personal involvement in choosing one's treatment program. Participants will learn about conventional, complementary and alternative medicine approaches for the treatment of PD. People with PD will learn how to research their treatment options and how to communicate their interests/questions to their physician. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to interact with holistic health and fitness specialists in the community that have experience and knowledge working with people with Parkinson's. By completion of the course, participants will be encouraged to choose from a variety of reputable community resources to develop their personalized wellness plan. Class size is small and programs are individualized to the interests of participants.

     

If you would like to suggest a location for a Power Over Parkinson'sTM class, please email us.  The curriculum is usually offered in four weekly sessions of 90 minutes each, but can also be offered as full-day seminar (usually 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a one hour lunch break).
